It's not really giving me more work if I'm curious too, is it? [ explore!!! ] Besides, if it doesn't work it's only five minutes of my time wasted, but if it does it's more to look at than before.
Currently? He can lift over a hundred pounds, but not quite 150. I wanted to test those limits first before upgrading his shocks and weightbearing joints to go heavier. So, I figure that applies in reverse, too, of being able to apply the same strength into pushing and pulling.
I built Roboji in, like, two or three days. Upgrading him would take even less time since the mainframe's already done. Most of the time would be about getting parts, but with the way I designed him his movements allow a lot more flexibility and shifting. Sort of like how the human body's muscles accommodate for certain movements.
But yeah, the grate's probably just stuck more than anything.
That fast? You sure you're not some kind of genius?
[ damn, kid, he's more impressed every time they talk. ]
The crew could probably help get what you need, anyway... But I still don't want to be the reason you've got more work, you know?
Honestly, though, I'm surprised they haven't just fixed it already. [ ... ] Then again, so much is screwed up around here, what's the point in focusing on a grate?
[ there's a little huff. ] It helped that I had a lot of the parts and plans from Robota. Building the main component was easy. It was just adding the upgrades to him that took more fine-tuning.
[ but he nods along to that...and he peers at kazuki curiously again. ]
...are you saying that because you don't want to be a burden in general, or because you think you shouldn't add to the workload of someone younger than you? [ it's a light question, and he doesn't really expect an answer seeing how he addresses the rest. ] I'm surprised and I'm not surprised. The ship's falling apart every day with something new. It's probably hard for them to keep up with it all at this point.
Ah. Yeah, if you have the basics down already, it makes more sense...
[ like the baseline of a score. ]
...What does age have to do with it? [ what. ] Kind of makes you feel bad for them, doesn't it? There's only eight of them for this massive hunk of junk. They've really got their work cut out for them.
[ there's a nod to the first part and he just flat-out ignores the age thing to talk about the crew instead. ]
Yeah...I'm a little more understanding knowing just how much they're up against, and especially knowing that they kind of have their own reasons for being a part of this crew, too. Not enough to, like, totally forgive everything that's going on, but a little more.
...I haven't really asked since we first met them. [ about their reasons. ] Adrastea-san just insisted that they really liked the work.
[ which still sounds fake but sometimes you just don't want to keep running into that wall ]
They seem pretty understanding about it, though. Like... if we really didn't ask to be here, we're totally justified in being upset, even if it isn't totally their fault.
...it's weird, right? Like how understanding they are about our situation. I don't really know what to make of it yet. They didn't seem to believe us at first but they've changed their minds a little.
I hope you're right about that. [ that it helps? or that they like some of them? who's to say... ]
...anyway. The grate. You do have a point that this ship's already a mess, so...we could always just set it on the backburner, too. [ and this way kazuki can go on his adventure and this won't matter in the future. ]

Yeah. If it's a grate I can even see if Roboji can lift it enough to pry it open. I haven't repaired his hands yet, but it should be okay.
no subject
You sure? I don't want to give you more work just because we're being nosy.

Guess not. Let's just try not to break him more in the process.
How strong is he, anyway?

[ he doesn't know robots ]
...Well, I doubt the grate's that heavy, anyway.
