I suppose seeking after certain bloodlines is not so common where you're from?

Can't say that they are. [ though he considers this briefly. ] You mean like...going after royalty or something?

Or any other noble family. There is a certain obsession with bloodlines in my country.

[ yeah, that sounds like nobility. it's different on earth where people obsess over bloodlines more for gossip than anything, but he has a feeling that isn't what dion means here. ]

And I'm guessing there isn't really any way to get people to look elsewhere?

You mean to chase after some other status symbol?

Yeah, exactly. Kind of feels like it'd be way too hard to do anything if you had people following your every move all the time.

[agamid]

Well, the surveillance and communication where I am from is not quite as advanced as here. People can only learn so much through gossip.

... I feel as though I've distracted us. Are you planning to sell your blood?

[solesuccess]

[ he's about to say something, but dion brings them right back to the beginning and he blinks in surprise. ]

Oh. Uh, no? Probably not...but it's also a good idea to look at everything on this planet just to make sure we aren't missing something that could help us later, right?

[ perhaps they can acquire other blood samples. he simply does not know. ]

Supernatural blood, you mean?

Yeah. Any sort of comparison could be good for comparing our blood with the nanites in it. Or it'd at least give us an idea of how we could change it, but...that's still a pretty big "if." I don't know how easy it'd be to grab anything to take back with us.

Are you also a physician?

[solesuccess]

Oh. No, I'm just..[ how to explain... ] It's an interest, I guess. I don't want to be a doctor and I don't know much about this, but it's something I want to look into.

[agamid]

Ah, because of the nanites in our blood?

Simply that the last youth I met with an interest in blood turned out to be.

I see. [ okay, so perhaps that is a fair question, though his curiosity is following a new line of thought. ] What were they interested for? Did you ever find out?

[ it seems to him that blood and immortality would not always go hand in hand. also he has no idea if dion means someone from his world or if someone here has an interest, now that he thinks about it. ]

... Ah, 'twas Master Dahut. I dislike to disclose information on his behalf, but I had thought it was well known.

Oh. [ he seems thoughtful... ] No, you're right. I did know about this. He and Scien told me a lot about what they were doing on their island and about their research. I just wasn't sure if you meant someone here or if immortality was something that exists where you're from, too.

[agamid]

There is no immortality where I am from, no. [ ... ] Except for one creature, but it too will die soon.

Is it really considered immortality if it'll die? [ idly. ] What is it?

... I suppose not? Just a long-lived creature then.

And I suppose someone would refer to it as a god. It is the creator of humanity.
