[ the ship lands, but unfortunately due to the jostling he's just stumbling and crashing right into diluc.
or, rather, diluc's legs. sorry about that, it was probably unexpected. he's on the ground for a few seconds before he shakes himself off and immediately bounces back to his feet. ]
Diluc! The ship doors opened. Have you looked at the planet yet? [ outside? outside for them??? ]
just kidding it looks like shoma's already on his feet again... wao, youth!! i'm gonna assume they're both already suited up and raring to go. diluc is testing his gear to make sure they're functioning properly, and nods to shoma. outside!!!! ]
Looks like it. Shall we—
[ vennessa immediately swoops past them in the direction of fresh air. (she's got a little respirator fitted over her beak as well. it's very dark though so she'll probably just be circling the area above the ship, which i assume is illuminated.) ]
[ thankfully the spaceport is right at the edge of the nest, so it isn't too far a walk in the gloom. the ambient light of the city probably helps to serve as a beacon as well, though of course diluc is mindful of their immediate footing. ]
...I didn't think it would be so red, either.
[ it looks somewhat foreboding. ]
I'm curious what the locals are like. Tourists, perhaps even moreso.
[ the dossier did cover the native population, less so the planet's visitors. ]
[ wandering forward...like moths to a flame. shoma is doing his best to keep up with diluc as they begin to move, but he doesn't seem to be struggling with the torch and following alongside him. ]
The tourists are what I'm curious about, yeah. Like if you're not people like us who have a job, what would make you come to a planet like this? And better yet, how long would you actually stay? [ answers doko... ] It's also a lot more populated than I thought it'd be? I always thought other planets out there wouldn't be this big.
There must be plenty to see in this 'Nest', to wander this far out. [ figuratively speaking. he has no idea where any planet is relative to each other. ]
—If not overwhelming. I can't imagine the majority of the populace centralized in a single colony, though it certainly appears large enough for the numbers.
[ even at the brink of it, it's dizzying to see—easily the largest cityscape diluc has encountered by far. ]
...The technology we've been given is certainly a boon. It would be terrible to get lost.
Is Teyvat not that big? [ he has read profiles, it's fine. ] The population of this planet's actually smaller than the city I'm from, so it's not that much of a stretch for me to believe it. But then again Tokyo has a lot of districts so people are still kinda spread out. This place looks like there's only a few buildings and everybody crowds around them.
[ adjusting the torch in his hand. ]
...do you think the ship would leave without us if we didn't make it back before it departed?
[ hmm, that is a good question. diluc frowns mildly. ]
Possibly. Or, it may have some way to coerce us back onboard.
[ thinking about friday effects from last week... ]
I don't imagine we're indispensable to the company, however our numbers are fairly limited. [ it might be annoying to have to find replacements for them. ]
Probably not. I mean they were willing to keep Scien alive, but they still kept him in his cell. [ not indispensable, but limited. this seems like the best way to actually read their current situation. ]
That and we don't know if they're at a risk of breaking the contract, too, if they just abandon us. I don't know. I know it's, like, not really stuff I should be thinking about when there's so much else to look at and explore but...it's hard not to.
[ he would love to enjoy space! but also nut & bolt continues to be sus as fuck. ]
[ he should be like, yeah, also you're 12, but diluc was also an overachieving gifted child, sooooo ]
On the contrary, it is the root of our problems. It's natural to be concerned.
[ it's only w1 lads don't worry about it ]
...It can be difficult to find the right perspective, when everything feels so immediate and new. And though this is but personal opinion, I think it's prudent not to forget the reason we're here.
I kind of always feel like I'm trying to find the right perspective on stuff. [ idly said, but more than that he doesn't disagree. ] But exactly. "Don't get too comfortable" and all that. No matter what they offer us going forward, there's still the part where we aren't meant to be here.
[ he smiles somewhat wryly, because truly this is such an unfortunate conversation to be having in so many ways. shoma has a good head on his shoulders, but even so diluc would not wish for him (or anyone else) to be worrying away all the time. (...that's his job, actually.) ]
...All the same, I feel we ought to make of these new experiences what we can.
[ they ARE on a new planet, after all. (crying that the week went by so quickly and they're gone again.) ]
[ what if diluc didn't worry all the time either? what if this company just let them leave and nobody had to worry about anything?? that sounds like a good idea.
he seems to have some self-awarness though that maybe he needs to lighten up, and he bows his head with a slight wry smile. ]
No. You're right. We can figure out the rest later...we're only here a few days. I think that's enough time to do both things. [ explore the planet and be paranoid about everything. ]
w1 monday

[ onto the nest! ]
no subject
except there's vennessa, zipping overhead. be free, bird. ]
Yeah. [ he has the torch! it is. probably kind of awkward to hold but he has it. ] Should be good enough to at least explore and see what's out there.
[ to the nest! ]
It's a lot darker than I thought it'd be, even knowing it was a nocturnal planet.
