[ diluc's expression is stony as ever, but thanks to weekly effects shoma can feel a brief glimmer of amusement.
she probably had too much, actually.
and it's okay they can both struggle and communicate via accidental telepathy...!!!!! ]
Mhm. Vennessa agrees.
[ she's still mad about flying into one of the windows in the observation deck earlier, though. ]

[ his laughter gets a small smile out of diluc. ]
For better, and for worse. [ the clear glass, he means. great for them! terrible for birds. ]
...It's truly remarkable, seeing it all for the first time. I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling like a fish out of water. [ his thoughts very quickly blip to sidon before blipping back to the conversation. ]
Yes. Caged beasts are rarely content.
[ overblown metaphor but u kno how he is ]

Well spoken. Could be the company was looking for fresh entertainment.
[ he says that wryly, because he can't parse any selection criteria, either. so many different passengers from different places and eras, most of them woefully under-qualified, himself included. ]
...It'll be interesting, at least, to see where our assignments take us. Hesitant though I am to comply, I'm rather interested to see what else is out there.
If you're feeling restless, I've found the simulation room a good way to pass the time.

[ he shakes his head (an affirmative). ]
Not at all. Something like this has never been in the realm of possibility, where I'm from.
[ and he says this next part somewhat conspiratorially, ]
An excessive amount. At least half the day yesterday, in addition to various training simulations.
[ zero gravity was not fun. ]

[ scoops him up!!
just kidding it looks like shoma's already on his feet again... wao, youth!! i'm gonna assume they're both already suited up and raring to go. diluc is testing his gear to make sure they're functioning properly, and nods to shoma. outside!!!! ]
Looks like it. Shall we—
[ vennessa immediately swoops past them in the direction of fresh air. (she's got a little respirator fitted over her beak as well. it's very dark though so she'll probably just be circling the area above the ship, which i assume is illuminated.) ]
—Ah. Do you have your torch?
[ onto the nest! ]

[ thankfully the spaceport is right at the edge of the nest, so it isn't too far a walk in the gloom. the ambient light of the city probably helps to serve as a beacon as well, though of course diluc is mindful of their immediate footing. ]
...I didn't think it would be so red, either.
[ it looks somewhat foreboding. ]
I'm curious what the locals are like. Tourists, perhaps even moreso.
[ the dossier did cover the native population, less so the planet's visitors. ]

There must be plenty to see in this 'Nest', to wander this far out. [ figuratively speaking. he has no idea where any planet is relative to each other. ]
—If not overwhelming. I can't imagine the majority of the populace centralized in a single colony, though it certainly appears large enough for the numbers.
[ even at the brink of it, it's dizzying to see—easily the largest cityscape diluc has encountered by far. ]
...The technology we've been given is certainly a boon. It would be terrible to get lost.

[ hmm, that is a good question. diluc frowns mildly. ]
Possibly. Or, it may have some way to coerce us back onboard.
[ thinking about friday effects from last week... ]
I don't imagine we're indispensable to the company, however our numbers are fairly limited. [ it might be annoying to have to find replacements for them. ]

[ he should be like, yeah, also you're 12, but diluc was also an overachieving gifted child, sooooo ]
On the contrary, it is the root of our problems. It's natural to be concerned.
[ it's only w1 lads don't worry about it ]
...It can be difficult to find the right perspective, when everything feels so immediate and new. And though this is but personal opinion, I think it's prudent not to forget the reason we're here.
[ nut & bolt sus af ]

[ he smiles somewhat wryly, because truly this is such an unfortunate conversation to be having in so many ways. shoma has a good head on his shoulders, but even so diluc would not wish for him (or anyone else) to be worrying away all the time. (...that's his job, actually.) ]
...All the same, I feel we ought to make of these new experiences what we can.
[ they ARE on a new planet, after all. (crying that the week went by so quickly and they're gone again.) ]
We may not be here very long.

[ finally, vennessa is free to fly about! while the sun is at its highest, anyway. meanwhile i'm putting the two in the bazaar, diluc's studying the leather goods and hand-carved trinkets. ]
...I'm finding I prefer this to the concourse.
[ which is perfectly fine, it's just that this feels more familiar to him. ]
See anything you like?

[ THE KITTY EARS...!!!! diluc just stares at them. he obviously wants to pet them so bad but is trying to be polite. (meanwhile, his hair is on fire.) ]
They seem quite skilled at their trade, yes.
[ he picks up a leather-bound notebook or some such, admiring the pattern etched into the grain. ]
Though I wonder if these will have much use on the ship.
[ it's like he's never heard of retail therapy ]
