Mizuki showed me the video footage last night and I sort of figured it out from there. I wasn't about to point out who might've done a self-defense kill anyway just in case we didn't find someone else and people panicked to vote for a culprit.

We never did figure out where that footage came from, did we? Harley didn't seem to think it was anyone in the security room that did it.

No. I have absolutely no idea, but I also didn't know it went to more than one person. So...wherever it came from, it was from someone who wanted to make sure the information got out.

Well, the items have been helpful. So it’s smarter to just use what we have and not worry too much about it for now.

Of course not. But I don't think it's a big thing to ask where they're coming from.

Mm...yeah. So far everything we've used and everything we've received has helped us. No side effects or anything weird like that. That has to be a good sign.

They're escalating in helpfulness, too, it feels like. Gregor's ability to separate the evidence really reframed everybody's thinking. So maybe we'll get even luckier next time.

Yeah, that did come in really handy. Maybe moreso than the truth thing.

Yeah. It's like wherever they're coming from seems to know exactly what we're dealing with, so it's helping us by giving us exactly what we need each time.

-- Let's be honest, our list isn't extensive. Unless it's the ship itself dishing things out at random, which isn't impossible, it's probably someone who knows what happens on the weekends here.

Then the question becomes "do we bother trying to find that person"? Or do we leave them alone to keep acting in the shadows?

What could we do if we found them? We don’t even know how this works, other than that it ends with us eventually getting things we can use to our advantage.

I dunno. Get an idea of what options are available to us? But...I guess that would also depend if they even know what their options are. We don't know where this person's getting things.

Mm. Could be they're keeping it quiet on purpose. Maybe they're sourcing items from somewhere discreet.

That's another thought, too. [ ....bleh. ] Maybe I'm just trying to find other things to think about to ignore how dreadful things seem right now.

If it keeps your mind occupied, it's not such a bad thing. Might work out well if you figure something out and can understand how the process works.

Yeah. It's...[ he rubs his face. ] ...it's hard to just stop even when a trial's finished. If that makes sense. Like even though we've solved things there's still a lot left so I always keep going without a lot of solutions.

Trial's just the end of a series of events throughout the week. It's hard not to keep thinking about how we can stop it.

Especially since it doesn't even end after trial. There's still everything tomorrow, too, and that's always a surprise each week. [ ... ] I don't know, Shu. I get that I'm sort of telling you stuff you already know but...

It all sucks. We don't even know who's going to be dragged into it this week, but we lost both Sheba and Shouxue last week. We have no idea what could happen.
