[ i'm losing it it's fine. anyway i hate to tell you this but unfortunately shoma has decided he likes sidon enough that he's willing to be in his vicinity even if he literally comes up to like his knees. he saw his efforts yesterday, and they've all been thrown into a pretty crappy situation. it's not hard to want to talk to people he was already getting along with.
but that comment draws a small laugh from him, even if it's really not particularly that funny. ]
That too, yeah. We haven't even made our first stop yet and everything they've said would happen has gone completely wrong. [ LITERALLY WHAT HAPPENED TO SCIEN JUST BEING IN JAIL FOR EIGHT WEEK??? ]
[ shoma is so cute. sidon likes him and roboji both very much so this is fine even though the tol-smol difference is 129 cm. his fondness will grow with every trial where he sees people with brains using them. ]
It's almost impressive, isn't it? Just how unlucky we've been?
[ he looks amused for a moment, mood lifted from the grief he's been in as they speak. ]
[ thank you, sidon. but also yeah! it is truly impressive we annihilated three people on this fine tutorial weekend. unlucky is an understatement, he thinks, and though his own emotions are quiet they do seem to err on the side of thoughtful, if a bit troubled. and somewhere in there is a little feeling like hopelessness, but miniscule. ]
I think...I sort of expected something like this to happen. When we first arrived, it was too obvious there was something that was going to go wrong when we woke up without memory of coming here, contracts we don't remember signing, and nanites in our bodies that can check us and help us communicate and stuff.
[ he frowns a little though. ]
You heard the video from earlier, right? Did you read Scien's decommission report? It...sounded like whatever was happening to him, he finally realized he wasn't actually in control.
[ if he had to put a word to shoma's presence, it's thoughtful. intelligent, but more than that, he just seems to be thinking so much, ahead of so many of them.
it's impressive, but he remembers how he didn't even notice the strange effects they had. thoughtfulness runs along the same current as melancholy, it seems. listening to shoma, he can see why. sidon's energy stays warm, even as he speaks on tragedy. ]
I did. Even if he was being manipulated somehow, I'm glad his actions at the end could still be partly his own.
[ though what he chose to do was grisly. ]
You think the danger is still out there. [ that it was here all along, maybe. ]
[ when you're as physically unimpressive as he is, being smart is about the only thing that's left. but more than that, it's the constant need to solve things and to try and stay ahead. back home it wasn't as intense, and he could solve puzzles and decrypt codes on his own time, mess with the police a little and only give out information he wanted to.
here, the situation's worse. he's starting to realize he has to actually talk to other people, and make himself valuable in the only way he can. this is probably why he likes sidon, actually. he doesn't always like or acknowledge when people praise him for his smarts to his face, but he appreciates people who still talk to him like an equal rather than a child, brilliant or no.
anyway this is all to say that sidon's getting a feedback from shoma that's almost akin to being not only thoughtful but quietly pleased to see that he's picking up the point. ]
If he actually remembers the end, it's probably close to what he wanted, at least. [ to regain control and actually operate his own body again. but there's a short nod. ] But yeah, I do. If there was something that made its way inside of Scien...and if he was already dead by the time Eunhyuk and Sheba found him, where did it go? There's still a lot of the ship we can't even access.
[ if shoma struck him as helpless, if the threat they were facing would spare him because he's a child, sidon might approach things differently—it's his calling to look after people.
but not everyone who is small or frail is a weakling. they just have different strengths to play to, to support, and a sharp mind is a valuable asset. ...though of course it's also hard not to dote on him a little!! he's baby. ]
Yes, Viktor had raised concerns... I've encountered no trace of any creature among us, but there's many corners to hide in. Ones we can't even see.
[ also not everything can be seen to the naked eye, as he's learning with these stupid nanites. ]
Moreover, there's no benefit to having us attack one another.
[ i hate dana because now i have to backtrack a little. ]
There's not, no. And there was never any benefit of Scien attacking his own assistant, and I think that's the weirdest part. [ ... ] When I went to see him last night, he said he was going to give everyone a week to ask questions before taking matters into his own hands and killing himself. So you have to think, what changed in those, like, 12 hours between last night and this morning?
That, and in combination with his final thoughts, continues to make me think there's something unseen that's taking control. Every time I asked him about why he did it and asked him if this was really his choice, he just felt...really angry and violent in a way I didn't think made sense for him. So what if whatever was puppeting him got mad and forced him to kill himself early? Or he came to his senses, realized he was being controlled and refused to wait?
