It'd be an interesting experiment. Everybody else is setting food out still for whatever reason and people seem to be taking the bait. [ which. why do y'all do this. ignore that the mess hall food is disgusting, but still. ] We could have a few standard ones and a few more unusual ones and see if people are feeling adventurous.
Not sure why people trust random food that’s just been left out, but some people really hate cooking. [ wow ] What, like your usual soy, chicken and then the weird ones I can’t pronounce and see what happens?
Then some people really can't be mad if one of those times they eat something less than flavorful. [ people!! ] But yeah. Leave them out, don't label them for people, and find somewhere to watch to see what they go for and how they react.
for normal flavours, he’s grabbing that spicy carbonara one and a soy based one. for not normal, strawberry shortcake, tiramisu and roast dinner flavours.
A masochist, probably. [ thanks. ] It should be a day nobody's expecting anything weird so that they aren't guided by suspicion. Let them think it's just normal noodles for anyone to share.
If that's what sends them off the deep end then aren't we doing everyone a public service by finding out now? When you think about it that way, this is a good thing.
Yeah. It's always something small, right? Like the thing you wouldn't expect. And then usually when it happens then people start over and rebuild their threshold.
[ me, out loud, very seriously: i would’ve 1 v 1d scien myself. ]
… I almost expected more. And not all at the same time.
[ what a fucking admission. ] Everything about this is sketchy, I didn’t expect it to stay sunshine and rainbows, but— everything happening that fast? That was a lot.
...I didn't expect more, but I was kind of expecting stuff to escalate eventually. I'm still not totally convinced some of this wasn't out of Dahut and Scien's control though. Luke's a whole different story that I still don't understand, but there's no way Scien was completely himself when this happened. It just doesn't explain why Dahut was also awake.
There's definitely something else going on here, that's for sure. It's just-- what? Maybe it's some weird concept of fairness. If someone wakes up with a goal, intentional or not, to attack someone, that someone's given the chance to fight back.
[ thinks about shu thinks shoma is 12 and is like so what if the ship was making murder fair ]
Could explain why Dahut was awake. Could also explain why Scien was able to kill him -- Dahut respected him, didn't he? [ FOR SOME REASON. ]
Then the question becomes why would the goal be allowed? [ he has to think about this, because he does not think this really adds up anyway. but at the same time he can see this stupid ship deciding on some fucked up version of fair. ]
...Dahut basically described their relationship as both familial and almost, like, competitive maybe? They pushed each other a lot, but they understood each other the most. I think if someone I cared about came after me, I'd try to reason with them, too.
[ because he sure has it. ] They don’t have to pay dead people.
[ oocly that’s probably not it, but IT WOULD BE FUNNY IF IT WAS AAAA CAPITALISM. ]
Yeah, you would. You might hesitate in hurting them too, making it easier for them to get to you. [ … ] I don’t think you need to kill them to retaliate, but if you’re up for cat and mouse for a while, you could incapacitate them.
...yeah, exactly. If they're pursuing you, it's possible there's no amount of convincing that can be done to help you. When you say incapacitate you mean like...trap them or disarm them?
...good point. [ don't just encourage him to break people's bones. but also, maybe that would be his best chance of outrunning somebody. ] It's something to keep in mind, at least.

But -- yeah, this is a pretty good spread. And they'll keep until we're ready to do the blind taste test.

Should be fine. It'll be after whatever work we have to do, too, so people will probably be more relaxed anyway.

As long as tasting tiramisu noodles doesn’t push them over the edge.

Always.
And either, or. People can’t run after you if they’re stuck somewhere, or their legs are broken. [ um. ]
